Jessica got the job!
Jessica came to National Joblink and Transition to Work (TTW) as a direct registration, with very little work experience, no licence, no ID card and unsure on what she would like to do moving forward. Jessica advised that she has anxiety and was unsure how that would impact her ability to find work, and the type of work she could do.
TTW assisted Jessica by getting a proof of age card so that she may apply for Centrelink payments and become more independent. She also wanted to get her learner licence, with TTW supporting her with understanding the road rules until Jessica was ready to sit the learner test in the office with assistance from her mentor. Jessica passed her learner licence and started learner lessons with TTW to gain confidence. Jessica is now gaining learner hours with her family.
Jessica’s TTW Mentor provided her with an opportunity to explore education opportunities through attending a walkthrough at TasTafe and a guest speaker from Alffie. Jessica however found out that study was not quite right for her at this time and set about looking for employment. TTW assisted Jessica in creating a resume and cover letter with Jessica applying for a position at Coles. Jessica was successful in her application and has now been working there consistently for the last 4 months and has just recently been promoted to Supervisor!
