What is Parent Pathways?

Parent Pathways is a voluntary Australian Government initiative designed to empower parents and carers of young children by providing practical and financial support.

Our qualified and experienced mentors offer flexible and personalised advice while always advocating for your best interests. They will help you identify and accomplish your goals as a parent or carer.

What can Parent Pathways do for me?

Parent Pathways is a program designed for you!

It’s flexible, parent focused and voluntary, you can opt-in or opt-out at your convenience

  • Flexible and mobile servicing that makes our mentors available to you when you need them
  • Access to new government funding of $1250 every year, for practical support to help you reach your goals and additional funding for immediate support
  • Connection with an experienced and passionate mentor who will give you individualised and tailored support
  • Create a tailored, achievable goal plan that considers your important role as a parent/carer and sets you up for future success
  • Identify and overcome any challenging situations you’re facing like financial, health and mental wellbeing, transport, housing, childcare, social, parenting and more
  • Access to driver training and NJL short-courses (parent friendly) to uplift and upskill

Am I Eligible?

To be eligible to participate in Parent Pathways, Parents and Carers must:

  • be a primary carer of a youngest child aged under 6 and
  • Not currently in paid employment (have not declared earnings to Services Australia in the previous fortnight) and
  • live in a non-remote area

In addition, must be either:

In receipt of one of the following support payments:

  • Parenting Payment single or partnered,
  • Carer Payment or
  • Special Benefit

OR not in receipt of an income support payment and:

  • under 22 years old, or
  • Not finished year 12 or have an equivalent or higher level of education)
  • a First Nations Australian
