Career Transition Assistance

Helping mature-age job seekers to become more competitive in their local labour market

Workforce Australia - Employment | Skills | Support

The Career Transition Assistance (CTA) program is designed to help mature-age job seekers to build their confidence and skills to become more competitive in their local labour market.

CTA is for people aged 45 years and older to increase their job readiness by identifying their transferable skills and better targeting their job search to local industries and available jobs. Career Transition Assistance will give job seekers a better understanding of available job opportunities in their local area and support them to tailor applications based on their skills and experience. This program provides practical assistance to develop technology and digital skills to build their confidence to use different types of technology, such as smartphones, tablets, apps, social media and desktop computers, as well as applying for jobs online.

The elements of the CTA course will be tailored to each individual and will include inbound and outbound employer visits.

All job seekers aged 45 years and over are eligible to take part in a CTA course.

After completion of the CTA program, participants and their Workforce Australia Providers will be provided with electronic copies of an updated resume and a completed Career Pathway Plan. This is designed to provide a clear plan of action outlining the steps the participant will need to take to pursue employment and/or training opportunities based on the participant’s transferable skills and the local labour market. NJL will also organise with participants, two future contact appointments, to allow for ongoing support.

Who is eligible?

To participate in Career Transition Assistance (CTA), job seekers must be aged 45 years or over, and registered with a Workforce Australia Provider, Workforce Australia Services Online, or Disability Employment Services (DES).

This includes job seekers not in receipt of an Income Support Payment. Those not currently registered with either a Workforce Australia Provider or with

Disability Employment Services can ask about registering as a volunteer to be eligible for a referral to the Career Transition Assistance program.
