Careers Day – Rockhampton
NJL Berserker hosted its second annual Careers Day on Thursday, June 1st
Mentors form both Berserker and Rockhampton City asked employers and trainers from several industries to attend, Kimberly- Apprentices and Trainees Queensland, Anita- Skills Hub, Phil- Sarina Russo, Clarey- Food Bank Rockhampton, Danielle- JBS Meat Works, Jess- GYG Rockhampton, and Natalie-Home Support Association.
Career Day gave participants an opportunity to hear from community members and employers in different career paths and gain insights about career options and the and details about necessary skills, education, and training for career success.
Participants engaged with presenters by asking questions and open discussions. Following the group appointment, several participants expressed interested in the following roles. In home support and/or studying Cert III in Individual Support, General packer with JBS, and Business Traineeship with ATQLD. The purpose of Careers Day was for participants to be exposed to a variety of local employment opportunities and to hear about the support they also receive from employers.
