NJL Driving Programs

Launched in 2019, NJL Driving School is part of National Joblink (NJL), a Community-Based Not-for-Profit and Registered Charity. The driving school provides flexible, person-centred lessons designed to build driving skills and confidence, while also supporting broader personal development goals.

NJL’s unique approach combines professional driving instruction with holistic support in areas like career development, life skills, health and wellness, and employability. We aim to empower individuals to gain not just a driver’s licence, but also the skills needed for meaningful employment and further education.

Who can Join the Time2Drive Program?

To be part of the program, learners must, meet the following criteria:

• No supervisory driver or vehicle available to assist with driving
• Have completed at least 3 professional driving lessons in the last 5 months
• Be experiencing financial hardship or receiving income support ( e.g. Service Australia), making it difficult to afford lessons
• Be able to commit to 2-3 hours per week with a volunteer mentor, including weekdays
• Attend all mentoring sessions at the Cairns city office
• Hols a current QLD Learner Licence
