Look at you day!

Look at you day!

28 July 2025

National Joblink (NJL) Rocky City delivered a fantastic “Look at YOU day” activity engaging our Transition to Work (TtW) participants with a blend of hands-on skills and self-care, paired with partnerships from local organizations, such as, the Queensland Council of Unions who donated $500 worth of wellbeing packs and Hidden Treasures Op shop in Gracemere who provided a range of interview and work clothing.

Mentors Dani and Trudi delivered structured discussions, practical demonstrations, information sheets, on makeup techniques, hair care and personal presentation which was incredibly beneficial to our participants. It’s uplifting to see how our mentors tackled various challenges, particularly issues related to confidence and self-esteem and to see how good our participants felt and looked after their makeovers.

The inclusion of Wellbeing packs was a thoughtful gesture, ensuring that every participant left with something practical and beneficial. Dani’s role in offering haircuts while creating a laid-back environment for conversation added a wonderful element, fostering a sense of social connection among the group.

It’s particularly inspiring to learn about the support offered to a transgender participant seeking assistance during her transition. This type of mentorship and practical support can profoundly impact the lives of those involved.

Big Thank You to the businesses that supported the Day and our mentors Trudi and Dani for undertaking such a meaningful activity, which they will deliver again in the near future.
