Dedication and hard work leads Zac to achieve all his goals

14 March 2025

Zac commenced Transition to Work (TtW) in January 2024, he had a limited employment history, no transport and had recently lost work due to an injury. Zac had a cert II in Railway and a white card when he came to us with the goal of getting a job in Gladstone Industry. In Zacs Pathway star he rated himself lower on home and money, identifying that both areas would improve once he commences work. Zacs mentor assisted with updating his resume, applying for Back to Work funding which supported Zac with obtaining a forklift license, confined spaces and working at heights tickets.

National Joblink (NJL) referred Zac to COGSY Deploy Workforce and he was successful in gaining position in their six week program which is designed to support youth to gain skills, experience and confidence in their desired career pathway. NJL also assisted Zac with work boots and transport getting him to and from the course.

Zac continued to job search nearing the end of the Cogsy Program and got an interview with QAL in July 2024 where there were some delays with medicals and the original position being filled – Zac remained persistent and confident and was offered a fulltime role as an Alumina Producer – Process (Trainee) in December 2024 and just completed 13 weeks of employment.

In the interim Zac was supported to apply for his learner logbook exemption, and as of January 2025 Zac has obtained his P1 license. NJL supported Zac with a mountain bike, helmet and bike lock while he was awaiting his driving test. Zac is now saving for a vehicle and has mostly overcome his transport barrier. Zac has also overcome a lot of personal stressors and grown into hard working and dedicated young man, achieving all of the goals he set with NJL.

Well done Zac
