Sophia’s Story

Sophia’s Story

18 August 2025

Since Sophia commenced with National Joblink and the Transition to Work (TtW) program in September 2024, she has made significant strides in overcoming personal barriers through engagement in various activities. This progress highlights the importance of the TtW program fostering confidence, self-esteem, and life skills towards career goals.

Sophia’s initial struggles with confidence and anxiety, alongside her experiences with bullying, are common challenges many young people face. However, the transformation she experienced through the support of her TtW Mentor Trudi allowed her to believe in herself enough to take the first step of attending a small group activity.

As she became more confident, she also participated in work preparation, creative, and life skills activities, she was able to identify her strengths, build confidence, and develop skills and knowledge for employment and personal growth.

Her progress in approaching potential employers, securing a job at Dotti, and obtaining her Learner’s Licence demonstrates how much her confidence has grown but also shows the effectiveness of the support, kindness and mentorship provided by wonderful Mentors such as Trudi.

The heartfelt message below from Sophia expresses her gratitude towards NJL and the TtW program and is an inspiring reminder of the impact that guidance and support can have on individuals seeking to overcome obstacles and achieve their goals.

“I feel National Joblink has helped me with a lot of things that I wouldn’t of been able to accomplish without them. Like the confidence I’ve never been able to find in myself before, being more social and learning new things such as how to be more prepared for work, how important it is to put the right foods into your body for you to perform your best in a work environment, and teaching me things about driving and safety behind the wheel and much more than school would not of taught me. And I’m grateful to have made the choice to join National Joblink and I am proud of myself and how far I have come since joining.”

Well Done Sophia!
