Chelsea has overcome her driving nerves and is now confidently navigating the roads

First, we discussed with Chelsea not having her driver’s licence was a barrier to employment and her own independence and then we talked about how things would change once she gained her p’s. Chelsea was then enrolled into the NJL driving school program. We encouraged Chelsea to have lessons weekly with our driving instructor to build up her confidence.
Some weeks Chelsea’s world was hectic with personal issues, anxiety, and life in general, nonattendance to both appointments and cancelled driving lessons but we soon got back on track after discussing the benefits and reiterating how things would change once she had her licence.

After a few lessons with our instructor Chelsea was ready to go for her P assessment. However, due to major anxiety Chelsea froze and lost focus during her test which she then failed. After a few more lessons and talks of encouragement and positive feedback provided after each lesson, Chelsea was rebooked for her p assessment. Contact was made to the driving school to discuss Chelsea beforehand and her worry with anxiety etc and if there was anything we could do to help prepare her.
The driving test instructor advised Chelsea to have a 20 mins familiarization before the driving test to get to know the car and the instructor and ask questions.
Chelsea did this and felt much more at ease and this time successfully passed her p test. Chelsea has said how things have changed for her so far and she is now applying for employment.
